Remembering Patience

I met MANY amazing people during my time in Ghana. One of them happened to be a wonderful young lady from Germany named Steffi. She e-mailed me some pictures she took the other day and many memories came flooding back.

Some of my time there was spent with a precious little one named Patience. This sweet girl had a deep sadness that I will never forget. When I saw the picture of me looking down at her I was taken right back to that moment and all of the feelings that went along with it.

I am thankful that my heart has been broken for "the least of these". It's good to be changed.

Beautiful. It does feel good to change, doesn't it? I just wish the whole world could feel it too!

Just makes you want to scoop them up and solve all their problems.

She looks like she is grieving her loss. Glad God loves her more than we ever could.

You will never be the same after a trip like that. Glad you were able to go.

Still praying.

She does indeed look deeply sad. Oh that God would change more hearts in this manner. I know adoption has changed me forever. I see everything differently. "I could adopt 3 children or feed a whole village for a year for the price of that car." It's much more difficult to justify extravagance (and even personal necessities) after you've looked in to the eyes of "the least of these."

She's so beautiful Stephanie. May God grace us all with the patience and endurance in life as He has her. What a blessing beyond all blessings to treasure up in your heart the moments of memory where God is so real and injustice is so cruel. Another beautiful face with a name to glean truths from. I will be praying for your beloved Patience as well as Mercy.

What a heart breaking picture. Her sadness has a piercing effect on my heart. What an injustice that a little one like this could know such heart ache. :(

Stephanie. . .Beckie just pointed me to this post on your blog- my husband and I are waiting to hear about our travel date- Patience is our little girl! And we're adopting her two older brothers- Gideon and Emmanuel too! We'd love to know anything else about them that you know. This blog entry breaks my heart and makes me want to get over there even sooner to bring her home!

Hi Stephanie,

I just had to tell you that I was looking back at this blog entry and Patience is sitting on my lap and she said, "That's me!" I pointed to the picture and said "Were you sad?" and she said "Yes, I sad." I asked her if she remembered why she was sad and she nodded, but that was all. I asked her if she was sad now and she said "no." I asked her if she is happy now and she nodded and said "I am happy." :-) Such a change. . .send our greetings to Mercy!
